The Honorable The Supreme Council member and ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, has emphasized that Flag Day is a beloved national holiday that symbolizes solidarity, patriotism, and deep respect for the UAE’s flag.
During a speech on Flag Day, His Highness said that the national flag symbolizes the state’s sovereignty and its unwavering commitment to defending it. He also said that the day signifies progress and prosperity in many areas of our lives, not just the preservation of our nation’s cultural and human achievements.
The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s visionary leadership and that of the Emirates’ founding rulers, who raised the national flag for the first time, were remembered by the Umm Al Qaiwain Ruler.
He went on to say that Flag Day would always be a priceless historical account that is passed down through the generations to instill the country’s ideals and goals. It is the tale of a nation brought together by a strong will and unflinching resolve to go on, aiming for excellence in all spheres of endeavor to improve the UAE’s reputation among other countries.
Raising the national flag as part of our celebration represents harmony, identity, and a strong sense of belonging for all of our country’s residents. His Highness Sheikh Saud added, “It is a testament to the sacrifices made to keep the flag flying high and strong, as well as the spirit, strength, and unity of our people. It acts as a declaration of our continued devotion to and affection for the significance of the flag.
